You can’t go wrong when you choose a Toyota model for your next vehicle. Toyota has built up a reputation of value, dependability and innovation. Any Toyota vehicle you select is designed to last for many years, providing you with reliable, comfortable transportation. You can select from a sports sedan, SUV, or a truck.

The History of Toyota

The brand first developed when Sakichi Toyoda invented a loom in 1924. What made this loom unique was the way it would stop operation if there was a problem. This design was known as jidoka, and it would become the primary principle by which Toyota would operate. Toyoda sold the loom company and used the money to begin developing automobiles.

The first vehicles developed for Toyoda was under the name of Toyota Automatic Loom Works in 1933. A car, labeled as A1, and a truck, labeled as G1, were built. The focus at this time was on light trucks. Toyota entered the US market, but high tariffs were placed on vehicles being imported during the 1960s.

Toyota started building plants in the US to make it less expensive to manufacture and sell their vehicles. The first plants were built in the 1980s with the manufacturer expanding the lineup a decade later to include full-size trucks and luxury cars. Innovative technology is combined with new styles to create hybrid models and those with advanced safety features.

The Brand Now

Toyota has developed a presence in 27 countries with manufacturing plants or assembly factories. North America has the most sales of any country, even in Japan. The headquarters on this continent is in Plano, Texas. However, it’s not the only US plant for either manufacturing or assembly. Toyota has recently been focusing the company’s attention on hybrid technology with several models including a hybrid version. For example, the Camry and Prius now offer a hybrid model while the Highlander and RAV4 also offer hybrid options for SUVs.

Toyota has been well-known for a while now for adding a hybrid model to the sedan lineup with models like the Prius. However, hybrid technology has expanded to SUVs with the RAV4 adding a hybrid model to this compact option. For those with the need of a full-size SUV, the Highlander also has a hybrid version.

The Toyota Tundra is a full-size pickup truck that can compete with the big names like Ford and Chevy or the RAM 1500. For higher-end models, Toyota has Lexus, which is a luxury brand.

Buyers who enjoy a little something unique and more power will appreciate the TRD Edition, which is designed for off-road performance. Many of these TRD models also include special features or a distinct look.

When you’re looking for a model that is dependable, comfortable and convenient while utilizing the latest in innovation and technology, nothing less than a Toyota will do. Check out these fine vehicles at Toyota of Poway to find your next vehicle that is recognized for incredible value.
