Toyota Of Poway – 2022 Toyota Tundra Blog

It’s hard to believe that the Toyota Tundra is approaching 15 years on the market. Equally difficult to understand is why this incredibly successful full-sized truck has not seen a significant refresh since 2014. However, that is all about to change as the 2022 Toyota Tundra is ready to set the truck world on fire with a new look, a more well-appointed interior, and a spry 3.5 liter twin-turbo V-6 engine. All of these improvements and the quality of every Toyota will come with a base sticker price around the $35k point.

The New Platform

The 2022 Tundra shares the body-on-frame platform that is now used for the Land Cruiser. The TNGA-F technology was created to offer a rigid and safer truck. That tech, along with heavy-duty steel and other upgraded components, including coil spring rear suspension, will improve the ride and increase the payload and towing capacities. These upgrades will put the Tundra on a more level playing field against the other full-size trucks on the market.

The New Bold Look

The first images released show a bold new grille that sets the tone for the entirely new look of the 2022 Tundra. The front bumper is integrated with the massive new grille. All of these new features are flanked by dual headlamps and also illuminated by an LED light bar. Gone are the laid-back curves and sweeps of the old Tundra. They have been replaced with distinctive sharp angles and defined lines that give the Tundra a look of power and purpose. Another new perk for 2022 is the upgraded and redesigned TRD Pro wheels that add to the rugged appearance of the Tundra.

The Upgrade Includes The Cab

Inside the new Tundra, drivers will enjoy a larger touchscreen equivalent to those offered in competitors’ large trucks. The technology will undoubtedly offer Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, complete navigation, and all the in-vehicle entertainment drivers and passengers could desire. For drivers who long for an open-air feel, the panoramic sunroof and power-sliding rear window will deliver the feel of being out in the open to enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.

Turbo Power

The word circulating at the moment is that the new Tundra will sport a new twin-turbo 3.5 liter V-6 engine capable of delivering 409 horsepower and 479 feet-pounds of torque. There is also talk that a hybrid drivetrain called iForce MAX will be offered. Another recent announcement from Toyota set the stage for an electric pickup truck. But it is unclear if this new EV will wear the Tundra name or begin a new series.

Sadly, the once-loved Tundra had been taking a lot of flak for being outdated from its looks to performance. However, the 2022 appears to address all of the “issues” and add some great creature comforts.
